APGA to Win Elections in More States, Says Umeh The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that it is nursing the ambition to extend its presence and impact to other parts of the country outside of the South-east during the 2015 general election. Speaking while inaugurating the new caretaker committee for Imo State, the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, said APGA was going to make serious in-roads in many other parts of the country, especially, Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Zamfara and Plateau States. APGA is no longer contended in wining elections only in the South-east. We are confident that the party will make serious in-roads in many other parts of the country, especially, Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Zamfara and Plateau states come next elections in 2015, he said. Umeh told the new caretaker committee that the partys expectations are that after the 2015 elections, the party would have clinched victory in all the positions in Imo State thereby restoring it as an APGA-controlled state. He said there was doubt that the support of the people of Imo State to APGA had been very immense but regretted that the man they elected through the party, Chief Rochas Okororcha, had betrayed the party by joining APC. According to him, the matter is still in court to recover the mandate from the governor and to ensure that the seat he is occupying is returned to APGA. He said the process of selectiing the new executive had been very meticulous bearing in mind that the team was working assiduously to return the party to power in the state. “Do not betray the trust of the people but try and galvanise the potentials of the party members in the state by also choosing the best materials to contest for all the positions during the 2015. We do not want to tolerate indiscipline from any member and in the same vein, we would not condone unnecessary petitions.” He warned against inundating the national leadership with petitions, adding that any such petition from any member of the caretaker committee would henceforth been thrown away. He advised the new executive to reach out for credible people and for all those who have been disenchanted for various and are looking for a window to participate in the electoral process. He said the expectation was that the new committee would work hard to produce the best material as governorship candidate who will upturn the fortunes in Imo state and ensure that the party wins in the state. Go and look for people who can win this election, no sentiments, no bias, we at the headquarters will not do any such things either. Our expectations are that after the 2015 elections, the party would have clinched victory in all the positions in Imo State. This a task that you must easily achieve because the electorate are waiting for you. In acceptance speech, the new Imo State chairman, Mr. Peter Ezeobi, pledged to work hard to deliver Imo State to APGA.
