APOLLO - This young appaloosa gelding is covered in bite and kick marks from a stallion. Horse dealers crowd horses into pens with no concern for the welfare of the animals. Apollo was headed to Mexico to be slaughtered for meat. His last days of life would have been horrific with a 48-hour transport and his death resulting from a gunshot to the head or a knife in the spine. Apollo and 3 other horses were spared this gruesome end when the Ohio SPCA rescued them. Horses are not rehabbed on love alone. Their medical care and feed are expensive.
