APOLOGY ALERT: To all my friends on face book and those who are not…please take the time to read this. I owe a very public apology to Aardvark Excavating and Bill Hays in particular. Bill came in our hour of need and agreed to fix our driveway after it washed out the end of May. I have posted several pictures of the fine work he has done and the finished product. For those who don’t know it was not his idea to put in the 12’ culvert but the state made us do that. Some evenings he worked well into dark after asking if we would mind his working that late. In doing our driveway Bill hired sub contractor’s to bring in stone that was needed. A sub-contractor came to us one day stating he had not been paid by Bill and was putting a lean on our house. Long story short we paid Bill the full amount and also paid the sub-contractor so we could close on our refinance mortgage to cover our expenses. The sub-contractor, Bob Gray of Gray’s Excavating told us he would pay us back if Bill ever paid him. Upon receiving a copy of the cancelled check proving Bill had also paid the sub-contractor at the same time we paid him, we called Bob asking why he hadn’t called us as he had been paid twice. For what it’s worth he said oop’s, I’ll be right down with the check. I want to make it perfectly clear at no time did we ever feel Aardvark Excavating out of Stowe or Bill Hayes himself ever did poor work or an unsatisfactory job. The pictures I have posted show the time and work he put into making sure the rocks were place just so and the finished product was greater than expected. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again…as long as he doesn’t hire that sub-contractor. I am deeply sorry for any ill feelings or bad reference I may have implied. I was upset that we were ending up paying for something twice. We have our money back from the sub-contractor after a week and a half and only after we told him we had proof he had been paid twice and we wanted our money back. Thus was the reason of my post about honesty. Bill, please feel free to ask me to write a glowing reference for you and your work anytime...
