APPEAL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO BUILD 4 NEW CLASSROOMS The latest Malaysian Education Blueprint stipulates that most government and government-aided schools would move to single-session by 2016. With the current enrolment of 700 pupils in Bukit Bintang Boys ‘Secondary School, we can transit to a single-session school in 2015. Schools that have moved to a single-session have shared positive feedback about being able to provide a better environment to develop their pupils. Single-session school operation will also help to minimise logistical issues in the scheduling of activities, both curriculum an extra-curriculum. To accommodate all pupils in single-session, we need an additional 4 classrooms and enhance the infrastructure of the existing classes. The school has received a proposal from a company to build, free of charge, a single-storey building with a built-up area of approximately 1000 sf. (2 classrooms). Since the school is going to be a single session school in 2015, the additional space or classrooms will be very much needed. The proposal involves using “pre-cast” materials and a single building can be completed as fast as a week. They have the licencing from Canada and essentially the technology is to use pre-made hollow pvc moulds of various dimensions that is to be filled with concrete. The cost of this building is RM 140 000.00 However in view of the fact that the school needs an additional 4 classrooms, we have asked the company concerned to build a two-storey building instead. The estimated cost of this building project is RM 240,000.This will incur an additional RM 100 000.00 and the school has been asked to raise this additional sum. Your help is needed to make this project a reality. No matter how big or how small, your gift today will make the difference. I hope all of you would like to be part of this noble initiative. The Board of Governors’ and Alumni have proposed that the names of contributors will be listed on a plaque to be put up at the new building. ------ Comment by Cheng Huat, To save time and effort, minimum donation is RM100.. if you can donate more, please do so its going for a very good cause..
