APPEAL This is a time of great uncertainty and turmoil for our ad-hoc colleagues as the courses for 2nd year have not been finalised, in the absence of which timetables cannot be prepared and work allocated. Under the pressure of the DUTA and students organisations, the VC was forced act after a long inexplicable gap and referred the matter to the Principals Committee, which has worked hard and submitted its recommendations to him. Meanwhile, I would appeal to all colleagues, especially those who are teachers-in-charge, to stand by our young teachers in their hour of distress and ensure their continuation from the opening day of the session, otherwise it could endanger their summer salaries. DUTA has already sent a letter to Principals and Staff Associations to ensure that letters of re-appointment are given to all ad-hoc colleagues. Please do not hold interviews except for an additional post or a new vacancy. Colleagues who have served the college with dedication should not have to face an interview that often becomes an excuse for terminating their services for extra-academic reasons.
