APPEAL: Were you driving in the Brindley Ford area of Stoke-on-Trent yesterday afternoon (Tues 9 Sept)? Were keen to hear from anyone who witnessed a fatal road traffic which happened at around 5.35pm in Tunstall Road when a silver Kia Picanto, travelling towards Stoke, left the road and came to rest in a ditch. The driver, an 85-year-old woman from Stoke-on-Trent, was treated at the scene by paramedics and doctors from the Air Ambulance before being taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where she sadly died. Her family have been informed and she has been formally identified as Jessie Mitchell of Lordshire Place, Stoke-on-Trent. Specially trained officers are supporting her family at this difficult time. The road remained closed while specialist officers carried out an investigation at the scene and we would like to thank motorists for their patience while the closure was in place.
