APPLE BASHING #6 (six, right? I’m losing count…) Admittedly, I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one, but here goes. I watched the 2010 documentary “How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster?” about architect Norman Foster and his incredible life of design work. But I found myself being increasingly irritated by the narration track, featuring a close mic’d slow-talking often-pausing Brit whom I naturally thought at first was Apple designer Sir Jonathan Paul “Jony” Ive; you know, the fellow who has been featured in all Apple ads since I-don’t-know when. It made sense to me that this famous designer would have been sought after as the narrator for the documentary. As it turns out, the narration track was made by the screenwriter Deyan Sudjic, who is also British, but I’m going to bash Apple anyway with this one because they obviously •taught• me to be so irritated by this style of speech. Imagine watching this Apple video featuring Sir Jony 14.77 times over and you’ll see just how annoying this can be.
