APPO braces up for All Saint and All Soul’s Day The region’s police force will be on Full Alert status this Nov 1 and 2 to strengthen the security and safety of devotees, motorists, and tourists. Oplan Kaluluwa was crafted to this effect. Aklan Police Provincial Office OIC, Police Superintendent Jomil John Trio, said the security operation will involve the maximum deployment of PNP personnel at all levels particularly mobile patrol units / elements along main thoroughfares leading to and from sites of cemeteries and, the fielding of uniformed policemen for visibility purposes to deter / pre-empt plans and activities of criminal elements. “We expect the increase in the volume of commuters, and motorists with these holidays due to the observance of the said event,” he said adding that the police operations against crimes will likewise be doubled to thwart any untoward incidents. “We will intensify our police visibility, checkpoints/chokepoints, and intelligence gathering operations,” Trio announced. Warning to the public Trio stressed, however, that the public has equal responsibility with the police in the maintenance of peace and order. “Everyone must be cautious of his or her security and safety,” he said. “Avoid bringing large amount of cash money and excessive wearing of jewelries when traveling or when going to cemeteries,” Trio’ advise to prevent being victims of theft or robbery. Moreover, APPO, through its Public Information Officer, PO3 Nida Gregas, gives some prevention tips to avoid being victim of lawless elements when going to cemeteries. 1) Close/lock properly the doors and windows of your vehicle. 2) Do not leave your valuables, like laptop computers, mobile phones, etc., inside your vehicle or in its compartment. 3) Ensure your vehicle’s alarm system is properly working or in good condition, or has the latest auto theft alarm system installed. 5) Avoid leaving your vehicle unattended for more than an hour.
