APPROACHING EASTER...Faith For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--Ephesians 2:8 FAITH....Ephesians tells us we are saved by grace through faith? What is faith? We put our faith in many things every day...I have faith that when I flip the switch the lights will come on...Now I cant see the electrical current, I dont understand the physics behind it, I dont know how it gets from the power plant and moves through the wires and in less than a second illuminates my room. However, I know its there and have faith that a light will shine. The faith talked about in Ephesians is defined in Hebrews 11:1 as something like that: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. And in 2 Corinthians 5:7--We live by faith, not by sight. Jesus talked a lot about faith..just google Bible verses on faith and many will pop up. (biblestudytools/topical-verses/faith-bible-verses/) Jesus also talked about having the faith of a Brassica nigra...a mustard seed....faith as small as a mustard seed. Matthew 17:20...I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, But why a mustard seed? Among the seeds that are sown in a garden, the mustard seed is the smallest of all. However, as it grows it can sometimes reach a height of ten to fifteen feet and serves as a shelter for birds of many kinds. Our faith starts out small like a tiny mustard seed...we plant it in our hearts and we let it grow. We feed it with by studying Gods word, and prayer and fellowship with other believers. As it grows it crowds out all the unwanted plants....the pride, envy, selfishness, anger, fear, doubt. In its place, this seed of faith gives home to love, joy, humility, kindness, peace, patience, goodness and faithfulness. Jesus told us we only need the faith of the mustard seed. Faith in Him, faith in what He has done for us...faith that grace has saved us. Plant that faith in your heart today and watch Gods transforming power grow.
