ARE MATURE PEOPLE MANNERLY AND RESPECTFUL? Romans 12:10, Good News Translation (GNT) Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another. I grew up in a family and a society that highly regarded people who displayed good manners, who showed respect for parents, their elders and leaders and for people in authority or who achieved distinction in their fields of study or endeavour. Call me OLD FASHIONED, but I cringe every time someone the age of my oldest grandchildren,. or younger than my youngest son, address me me on Facebook as Daniel or Daniel wisdom. Some of my immature friends think I am begging for respect or attention. But I merit it, I earned it, as one of the oldest and one of the most accomplished individuals on this social network. I know that lack of respect for others is modern humanist culture, but it is NOT Christian behavior, or mature behavior. I have noticed in my travels across the USA and around the world that the most mature and accomplished individuals are quickest to show respect for those to whom respect is due and to show respect generally for others. I have also noticed it on Facebook. I also notice that we are quick to show respect to and big up family members who achieve any form of distinction. Here is what God has to say about showing respect to. All quotes are from the Good News Translation (GNT). ******* Deuteronomy 5:16 (GNT) “‘Respect your father and your mother, as I, the Lord your God, command you, so that all may go well with you and so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you. ******* Ephesians 6:2, (GNT) “Respect your father and mother” is the first commandment that has a promise added ******* Leviticus 19:32 (GNT) “Show respect for old people and honor them. Reverently obey me; I am the Lord.
