ARE YOU A VICTIM OF “PIGEON DROP”? How does this scam - TopicsExpress

ARE YOU A VICTIM OF “PIGEON DROP”? How does this scam work? These “pigeon drop” crimes are intended to bilk victims out of considerable amounts of money – sometimes their entire life savings. The crime is usually committed by a group of three people. The group typically befriends a stranger in a public place and tells the person they have received a lucrative inheritance, offering to give them a portion. Recently, an unwary individual was targeted as a potential victim outside a 99 Cents Only store. One of the predators began a conversation and told the woman he had received an inheritance, but in order to receive it, he had to donate money to two strangers. Another one of the predators approached, playing the role of the second stranger. The potential victim was then asked to provide “good faith” money up front, so the victim withdrew cash and collected jewelry and gave it to them. She never saw them again. Boomers and seniors you need to know there are good people out there, but if strangers come up to you with schemes to acqu9rie free money, and this seems very suspicious to you, PLEASE, PLEASE call your local police department. REMEMBER: IT’S NOT RANDOM THAT YOU ARE APPROACHED. YOU ARE TARGETED! PLEASE BE CAREFUL! The best to you, Janice M.
