ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL????????? OK Are you ready? This is it our Fall Heroes spring into action this Sunday as the New York Jets host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Giants visit the Dallas Cowgurls and the National Football League completes its first weekend of regular season play….. Gonna be a long season for Gang Green, a rookie quarterback, questionable offensive line and running backs, a wide receiver who doesn’t want to play and a coach who is more suited to be a defensive coordinator are the issues for the J E T S, JETSJETSJETS. The best thing you can say about the Jets is that maybe their games will be blacked out locally if as expected they don’t sell out home games so we can see other and better football games in our living rooms. One other side benefit might be a high pick in next year’s draft---it says here that the Jets will win 5 or 6 games at a max The New York Giants have many questions to answer as well but past performances lead one to expect a better attempt at solutions than their cousins at Met Life……Big Blue has an outside chance to be the first team to host a Super Bowl as Met Life in the Meadowlands hosts the world championship game of football in February. The Gmen got badly banged up during the summer and they weren’t healthy when the summer practices started. The loss of starting safety Stevie Brown really dampers the effectiveness of a Giants defense that quite franlkly hasn’t been good since they won the Super Bowl. For some reason JPP delayed having needed back surgery for so long that he is questionable to open the season on Sunday night in the Fallas Dump. Cruz. Diehl, Bass, and Brown all were counted on and have all become injury concerns, of those only Cruz is expected to open the season on the active roster. That being said it figures to be an exciting season for Big Blue as Eli and the Offense will rank among the leagues best. The Giants must figure out a rotation for the offensive line and come up with an option at running back because David Wilson cannot handle all the running duties. On defense this is a make it or break it season for coordinator Perry Fewell and defensive end Justin Tuck. With Osi now in Atlanta via free agency if Justin Tuck wants another big contract to finish his career as a Giant he must turn back the hands of time because he is coming off 2 mediocre seasons in a row, at best. We look for the Giants to return to the playoffs with about 10 wins but we really don’t expect them to be at the Super Bowl----unless they buy a ticket ON OTHER MATTERS Simply put they were 2 of the most painful losses in Yankees history, scoring 8 runs in consecutive games against the Deadsox and not winning either….UNBELIEVABLE!!!! some old warts surfaced in the first 2 games of this big series, among them:1 as good as Soriano has been since rejoining the Yankees it is inexcusable how he can get picked off first make second onlu on an errant throw, and then to get thrown out on the next pitch trying to steal third, in a game that had just been tied up with AROD and Granderson coming up…..High School players know better….2.Ichiro should have caught Napoli’s Grand Slam he cruised back to the wall never actually got there and misjudged his timing when he did……3 Joba and Hughes are at the end of their Yankee careers I guess somebody has got to tell Joba to thrown his fastball when it is obvious he cant throw the slider for strikes……I mean I can see these things from my couch, but Joe Girardi has done his finest managing job this season ----whatever the outcome!
