ARE YOU RISING OR FALLING IN LIFE? Mind your attitude, as this would greatly influence your rise or fall in life. Your attitude is mainly influenced by your temperament, so check out your temperament, as this would help you maximise your potentials. Temperament is the combination of certain in - born traits or character that we inherited from our parents. This combines with basic make up and behavioural pattern. Early home life, training and education, motivation and other social and environmental factors also influence our behavioural attitude. The temperament theory divides people into four basic categories namely, the sanguine, the choleric, the melancholy, and the phlegmatic. Each temperament type has both strengths and weaknesses that form a distinct part of their behavioural pattern throughout life. THE SANGUINE This is a naturally warm, lively, friendly and bouyant kind of person. He likes to "enjoy", he is receptive by nature, and very extrovert. The sanguine tends to be influenced by feelings rather than reflective thoughts in the formation of his decisions. He is very outgoing and has a fun loving spirit. He easily makes friends because of his jovial ways. He is a good talker. The best vocation for the sanguine is in sales and marketing, acting and entertainment and in mass media. This is because he is naturally people oriented. The sanguine would do well in the political arena where charisma is of great advantage. But the biggest problem of the Sanguine is procrastination. THE CHOLERIC This is a hot, quick, active and practical kind of person. He is strong willed, self-sufficient and very independent, and tends to be self-willed, decisive and opinionated. He is extroverted, like the sanguine, but not as intense. The choleric thrives on activity. He does not need to be stimulated by his environment, but rather he subdues the environment with his endless plans, ideas, ambitions and goals. He is not easily frightened or discouraged by adversities, rather, adversities tend to encourage him, and he has dogged determination to succeed where others have failed. Choleric is a born leader, he will do well in military, sport and professions where leadership are required. He does not easily sympathize with others nor express compassion. He never shed tears and is usually very insensitive to the feelings of others. THE MELANCHOLY This is the analytical, self-sacrificing, gifted and perfectionist type of person. He has a very sensitive emotional nature. He is naturally introverted, and does not expess his opinions easily. With the melancholy, feelings predominate. So is given to variety of moods. At one time he may be ecstatic and behave like exrovert, but at other times he may become gloomy and depressed. At such times he may become withdrawn and even antagonistic. Though unlike the sanguine he does not make friends easily, the melancholy is a faithful friend. He can keep secrets like the grave. He is very dependable. The best vocation for melancholy is where creativity and imagination is required. Humanitarian vocations are particularly attractive to melancholies. THE PHLEGMATIC This is a calm, easy going, peaceful kind of person. He almost never becomes angry, and is about the easiest type of person to get along with. He is a happy ,unexcited type,. He never gets ruffled no matter the circumstances, and he avoids as much involvement as possible. He is very diplomatic, organized, efficient, practical and dependable. He usually avoids violence and has a dry sense of humour. Vocationally he is very good at anything that requires meticulous patience and daily routine. He is best in teaching, librarian, counselors. He tends to be spectators in life, procrastinate a lot, very stingy, self-protecting and selfish. Though sympathetic and kind hearted, they seldo convey true feelings.
