ARE YOU SERIOUS OR GIVING LIP SERVICE IN ELECTION TIME? SECULARISM IS NOT AGAINST RELIGION. TWO IDEAS IN TWO DIFFERENT SPHERES. RELIGION IS PRIVATE FAITH. SECULARISM IS A PUBLIC DISCOURSE AND RATIONAL PRACTICE. What we propose: 1. Separation of religion from politics. No state religion or no equal respect for religion. No interference of religion in political spheres and governance. 2. No patronage or assistance by the state in any form to any place of worship. 3. No elected representative to visit any place of worship with official capacity. 4. No oath in the name of god. Amend constitution to take oath in the name of constitution. 5. Stop practice of touching religious scripture in the business of court. 6. Any assistance of police personnel for religious ceremony or religious procession on submission of prescribed fees as decided by the state. 7. A secular civil code in matters of marriage, divorce, adoption and inheritance completely unconnected with any religious sanctions. 8. Ban on use of cap, sword, or wear of dress or carry any material of religious symbol by party or candidate during election. 9. No special concession or state funding for any religious festival or pilgrimage. 10. Enact laws on the basis of Directive Principles of State Policy to ban the orthodox religious practice, superstition, blind faith, sale of fortune stone, arrest business of fortune tellers. Tax on channels telecasting on Babas and Gurus. 11. No land by state to religious institutions and place of worship of any descriptions. 12. ‘No instruction of religious teaching in educational institutions’ to be strictly regulated and no public holidays on religious grounds. No worship of any religious image in schools and colleges. 13. Stop naming any road, public institutions or any such thing after religious gurus or preachers. 14. Curriculum at all level to prepared to cater rational, secular and scientific temper. 15. No teacher bearing or putting any religious symbol be allowed to school or college campus and to teach in the class.
