The Argentines have won the World Cup on two occasions, first in 1978, before heroics from Diego Maradona secured them their second and last World Cup triumph. Argentina disappointed in the 2010 edition in South Africa, after being thrashed 4-1 by Germany in the Quarter-finals, while Lionel Messi failed to find the back of the net in the tournament.
