ARMED FORCES COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OFFICER • VETERANS COUNCIL • Dependent on experience • Penrith [email protected] We are currently recruiting for an Armed Forces Community Engagement Officer to be based at our Penrith branch. Job description Background: Veterans Council provides a credible duty of care that makes a positive difference to the daily lives of our Armed Forces Community. Our services are designed to restore the nation’s moral obligation to the members of the Armed Forces Community. Role and Responsibilities: Engage with the Armed Forces Community throughout the UK ensuring they are aware of the Armed Forces Community Directory and Veterans Council. Make sure the Armed Forces Community who need help, find the right help in the right place at the right time, wherever they are, whenever they need it. Work in partnership with organisations regarding the smooth running of AFComD. Complete follow up telephone calls, e-shots, emails and promotional materials to ensure the Armed Forces Community is informed. Work together with Veterans Council Social Worker regarding referrals and early intervention pathway. With our social worker guide Armed Forces Community through transition pathways including physical/mental health and wellbeing services, housing, employment, education and welfare. Ensure AFComD delivers a service which empowers the Armed Forces Community to take a more active role in choosing the services they need. Assist in the recruitment and retention of volunteers. As a team, member undertake any other duties as may be required occasionally within the scope and purpose of the role. Contribute to team development. Post will require frequent travel throughout Cumbria with occasional travel throughout the North West. About You: The successful candidate will possess: Armed Forces Community Awareness. Excellent customer service skills. Effective communication skills. Dedication and commitment to working with diverse stakeholders. Proven experience of working with professionals and beneficiaries. Planning and Organisational skills – use initiative to manage and prioritise demanding workload Coaching and mentoring skills Good Knowledge of Welfare, Social and Volunteering services. Experience of providing guidance within a support function. IT literate (MS Office, web based systems) Good level of general education GENERAL: To Implement the Equal Opportunities policy into your daily activities wherever possible. Time Commitment If selected, it is expected that you will commit to 20 hour per week flexible working according to the needs of the Charity.
