ARREST: Detectives from the Ulster County Sheriffs Office report additional arrests, following an investigation yesterday into a shooting in the Town of Wawarsing. On August 27th, 2014, this agency reported the arrests of RYAN Z. NOVAL, 26, of 91 OTENS ROAD, ELLENVILLE and EDWARD L. SCRIBER, 34, of 427 ROUTE 28, KINGSTON. Mr. Noval was initially charged with the felonies of Attempted Robbery in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 1st Degree. Mr. Scriber was initially charged with the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, for possessing the weapon used in the shooting at his residence prior to the shooting, despite being a convicted felon. On August 28th, 2014, detectives arrested NICOLE A. HALTER, 30, OF 5140 ROUTE 209, ACCORD. She was charged with the felonies of Assault in the 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy in the 4th Degree, Attempted Robbery in the 2nd Degree (3 counts), Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and the misdemeanors of Attempted Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, Coercion in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment of Property, Menacing in the 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ms. Halter is alleged to have participated with Mr. Noval in committing the acts resulting in yesterday’s shooting, including participating in a brief armed standoff with police while a child was in the residence and attempting to hide the weapon used in the robbery and shooting. She was arraigned in Marbletown Court and remanded to the jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $500,000 secured bond, to return to Wawarsing Town Court tomorrow. Additional charges were also filed on August 28th, 2014 against Mr. Noval for the felonies of Conspiracy in the 4th Degree, Attempted Robbery in the 2nd Degree (3 counts), Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree and the misdemeanors of Attempted Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, Coercion in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment of Property, Menacing in the 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Additionally, at the time he was taken into custody he was wanted by New York State Parole as an absconder. He was previously remanded to the jail without bail and will be produced in Wawarsing Town Court tomorrow. Mr. Scriber was additionally charged on August 28th, 2014 with the misdemeanor of Criminal Facilitation in the 4th Degree, for providing the weapon used in the shooting to Mr. Noval and Ms. Halter. He was previously released on an appearance ticket to return to Ulster Town Court at a later time. The victim remains in Westchester Medical Center in stable condition.
