ARREST: Members of the ULSTER REGIONAL GANG ENFORCEMENT NARCOTICS TEAM (U.R.G.E.N.T.) report the arrest of two Saugerties residents subsequent to a marihuana and child endangerment investigation. URGENT along with members of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) received intelligence in regard to a marihuana cultivation operation inside a residence at 1083 Main Street in Malden. Further, two children were reported to be domiciled at the location. Members of URGENT and DEA proceeded to the location to conduct an investigation. A subsequent search of the residence revealed: numerous marihuana plants, loose marihuana (approximately 7 pounds), “grow lights” and other marihuana cultivation equipment and electronic scales. Bruce and Lisa Meiswinkel were taken into custody at the location, transported to the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center and charged with: Bruce Meiswinkel, 47, of 1083 Main Street, Malden • Criminal Possession of Marihuana 3rd degree, a class E felony • Growing of Cannabis by Unlicensed Persons • Endangering the Welfare of a Child Lisa A. Meiswinkel, 40, of 1083 Main Street, Malden • Criminal Possession of Marihuana 3rd degree, a class E felony • Growing of Cannabis by Unlicensed Persons • Endangering the Welfare of a Child Both defendants were released on appearance tickets pending appearance in Town of Saugerties Justice Court. The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of New Paltz Police and United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
