SALARY : R135 813 per annum CENTRE : Cape Town REQUIREMENTS : Applicants must be in possession of an N3 Certificate and a Trade Test Certificate (Shipwright or Carpentry) and relevant dry-docking experience. A valid Code C driver’s licence is preferred, however a valid Code B driver’s licence is acceptable. Knowledge of the relevant machinery used and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993) (OHS Act). Supervisory experience. Candidates must possess the following skills: maintenance; cleaning; basic finance; dry-docking of vessels and related procedures; the use of basic tools and equipment; and safety procedures. Willingness to work overtime, on public holidays and over weekends as well as the ability to assist at other fishing harbours. Must have the ability to speak Afrikaans and English. DUTIES : The incumbent will be responsible to perform cleaning and general duties in the office and harbour office as well as conduct minor repairs to installations. Assist with slipping of vessels from/to slipways and side slipways. Conduct and undertake gate duties at gate entrances to the Harbour and assist with the management of harbour facilities within the Harbour. The incumbent will also be required to assist in fishing harbour maintenance/dry-docking operations. Assist with fishing harbours (Departmental) initiatives, this may include supervisory duties. Duties will also be performed in more than one (1) harbour. Drive vehicles/trucks to various fishing harbours to assist with the provision (directly or indirectly) of gazetted fishing harbours.
