ARTISTS ALLEY Announcement #8 JON SOMMARIVA / RED J What do you do? I am a freelance comic book artist. I have had my work published by Darkhorse Comics, Image, DC comics and I am currently a cover artist for IDW. What are some of your favourite jobs you have worked on? I am currently working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which is a bit of a dream job for me as I grew up watching the turtles as a kid. They were some of the first comic book characters I ever drew. I also loved working on my creator owned series called Gemini. I always love putting together a new edition of my art book series Ozmosis Chills. What is your favourite comic? Why? So hard to pick just one! My current favourite is Invincible. I love the artwork first, but the characters are really great and the story line is always fun and exciting to follow. What is the comic you havent read but shouldve by now? Why? For years it was Bone, but then I finally read it and I loved it. I am ashamed to say I have not read through all of Akira yet. It is a classic series, I loved the movie and have seen it so many times, and from what I have seen the comics are a masterful example of storytelling. I have no good excuse.
