AS IMPEACHMENT BECOMES BUSINESS If impeachment gets to used the way it is conceived to be used by our Nigerian legislators, then, I do not see more than one or two Nigerian Governors surviving this gale of impeachments blowing across the Green landscape. Even President Goodluck Jonathan will find it difficult retaining his seat. But, before him, all the members of the National Assembly should have been sent to jail for various levels of criminal offenses. However, impeachment in Nigeria is not used to restore sanity to governance but it is a political business adopted for the purpose of victimizing targeted enemies who have done what all the others have been doing but maybe, refused to share the loot well enough. Truth is; in the history of Nigerias democracy, no single individual has been impeached because of the conscientious determination of our legislators to cleanse the political space of corrupt individuals. It is either some people want to get the opportunity to be at the head of the stealing or some Party people want to punish another for stealing without taking them into confidence. Today in the Imo State House of Assembly, there are credible rumours of an impending impeachment on our Governor. Owelle Rochas Okorocha has no doubt committed more impeachable offenses than even Murtala Nyarko, but, I can assure you that my Governor will not be impeached, nobody will be impeached. This is because, those who are alleged to be at the forefront of the impeachment conspiracy are not even ready to impeach the Governor. They are in it for their personal businesses. They want to play games, they want to cash in on this opportunity to get our AKA GUM Governor to pay some money and make some commitments, then business goes on. IMO GA ADI MMA OZO!
