AS MY WORLD TURNS: Update -- I have come to the conclusion that moving into a senior apartment complex is in my best interest. Medically, its a no brainer. Further, my car is gone, which leaves me isolated in the country. At first, I sort of wilted. There goes my independence, woe is me...sigh. But its not turning out that way. There are several nice complexes that are close to my church and the library (a really good library), one is very close. However, with the arthritis in my feet, its not within walking distance for me. Its probably a half mile. Sooooooooo, Im thinking of getting a bike. Well, a trike; which takes some courage on my part. My balance isnt good enough for a bike I fear. But a trike would be perfect. My son rented one for me when we were in Key West and I was almost in tears at the joy I felt from the sensation of freedom, moving without pain. It was quite a heady experience. Now Augusta isnt the flat island that Key West is, but I bet I can make it work. Also a fair number of women in a support group I belong to at church {Seasoned Souls}, live in the one that is the closest, which would be lovely. Someone to have coffee with in the morning and wine with in the evening. So as it turns out, what I was dreading (it IS a wee bit early) has turned into honest excitement. A new chapter of my life. A new way of being. New opportunities. It will be a year before my name comes up on the waiting list, but I have tons to clean out of this apartment. though I lack the art to decipher it, no doubt the next chapter in my book of transformations is already written.
