AS YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE TODAY . . . . . . THINK ABOUT LIFE - TopicsExpress

AS YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE TODAY . . . . . . THINK ABOUT LIFE LESSONS FROM GENESIS 41 In particular, think about lessons you have learned in life. We can learn lessons the hard way or the easy way. Most of us choose to learn life lessons in the “school of hard knocks.” This is when we learn the lesson by it affecting us personally. The easy way to learn life lessons is to pay attention to the decisions that others make and recognize the outcome and learn from their mistakes. A life lesson is some principle, truth, motto, moral, etc. that we can apply to our life and our life be enriched and bettered as a result. It really is dynamite when we apply the life lessons from the Word of God to our lives and experience the fabulous results. In Genesis 41, there are a lot of life lessons we can apply to our lives. But the one that I have thought about this week is: It is often more difficult to handle success than it is to deal with affliction. Affliction is bad; but for every one person that can handle success, there are one hundred people that can handle affliction. Joseph handled affliction and was fruitful in his affliction. If I could say it this way: “He was successful in his affliction.” The word success is used only one time in Scripture over in Joshua 1:8. The bible says if we will do what God says then we will be successful. A lot of us don’t have a problem doing what God says if we want to do what He says or if the circumstances are pleasing to us while doing what God says. Its when the circumstances are not pleasing to us and our flesh doesn’t feel like doing what God says that we sometimes refuse to do what the LORD would have us to do. In affliction or not, if we don’t do what God says then we cannot be successful period! So, remember to be successful doesn’t mean that everything is going your way. It certainly wasn’t going Joseph’s way but he was fruitful anyway. He was successful anyway in his affliction. So, we learn that our circumstances have nothing to do with us being successful or not. Our obedience to God’s law is what brings success. Abiding in Christ even in the storms of life is what produces fruit in our lives. I love how the Bible says that God made Joseph fruitful in his time of affliction. I want to be fruitful. I want to be successful. But what I’ve learned is I can be fruitful and successful even if I’m going through a tough time in my life right now. The tough time, the negative circumstances, the trials and testings have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not my life abounds, increases, grows, bears fruit, etc. My obedience is what determines if my life abounds, increases, grows, bears fruit, etc. This has really helped me today and I hope it has been a help and a blessing to you as well. Have a great day! I want to invite you to our LIFE BIBLE STUDY on Sunday mornings at 9:50am in the Gym at Parkview Baptist Church. Tomorrow (November 17th), we will be studying Genesis 40. Hope to see you there! - Bro. Joey
