ASAI / Shihan Kousaku Yokota - IMA / Independent Martial Arts - IMA/Nightingale Shotokan Karate. Student & community training resource, reference and inspiration. Black-belt testing date confirmed Saturday 13th December 2014, Halifax, UK. Start Time 1.30pm. In association with Asai Shotokan Association International (ASAI) and Shihan Kousaku Yokota (8th dan), Sensei Andrew Nightingale (5th dan) and Independent Martial Arts group (Nightingale) will hold its next dan grading examination at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax, United Kingdom at 1.30-5.30pm on 13th December 2014 for all eligible members. The grading examination will be for those of the IMA / ASAI-UK group who are wishing to try for the ranks of 1st dan (Shodan), 2nd dan (Nidan) and 3rd dan (Sandan). Please note that there will be no training session prior to the examination only a short personal warm up time to ready yourself for the ensuing physical exercise. The next available opportunity for dan grading or re-grade will be around June/July 2015; this date will be set early next year. Successful candidates will receive a grade diploma endorsed by Shihan Kousaku Yokota (a former life time member and instructor of the Japanese Karate Association (JKA) and the chief instructor and founder of Asai Shotokan Association International (ASAI)) and 1 years individual membership to the ASAI group. All examinees are reminded that they should be familiar with the written IMA syllabus 9th to 1st kyu (all 3 parts of 1st kyu) along with their relative dan grade examination requirements, details of which are always available from your instructor. All examinees are also reminded that in order to obtain and receive the rank they must complete the whole examination and any unprepared examinees having a detrimental effect on the natural flow of the grading are again reminded that they will be moved to another date with 75% of their fees returned in order to keep a positive, functional and active training and testing environment. Please speak to your instructor for more information clarifying what the expectations are placed upon any Karate-ka trying for IMA / ASAI-UK Black-belt level. Please also check that your own membership is in date and remember to bring your safety equipment, plenty to drink and grade book.
