ASAM PEDAS MAGGI You crave for the wierdest food on wet rainy days and nights. I had cooked chicken asam pedas this afternoon using fresh ingredients that included bird eye chilly, tumeric, galangal, ginger, onion, garlic, tamarind juice and lemon grass. Eating the dish with rice on a cold night did not sound appealing to me. So I grabbed a packet of Maggi curry instant noodle and boiled the curly white strands. I simmered the asam pedas gravy together with some of the Maggi curry powder before pouring the fragrant kafir and tumeric leaf smell gravy on top of the plain boiled noodle. A fat drumstick sat invitingly on the mee mound among the greenery and red spots. My son came crawling, appealing to share with him. And like all mothers, I fed him lovingly, giving him most of my share. Need I tell you more how good it was to have Asam Pedas Maggi on such cold nights?
