ASK BEFORE YOU CONDEMN THE DOCTORS PLEASE... The imbroglio in the Nigerian health sector is once again taking a new dimension with the doctors being blamed (as usual) by many who do not actually know the crux of the whole matter. The perspective of the general public is that doctors are ungrateful; that they want too much for themselves; that they are arrogant; that they are et cetera, et cetera, blah, blah, blah. But when it comes to ill health the doctor is the first to be consulted and he/she is expected to arrive at a diagnosis and institute treatment(s). Some people have forgotten that doctors make more sacrifices than anybody in the health sector - beginning from their undergraduate life up to the time they retire (if possible) or die. Doctors arent just dragged into this imbroglio but they are forced to try to do what must be done to salvage the system from corruption and misappropriation of duties and priorities. Most of the false rumors going round about the stance of doctors in the Nigerian health sector imbroglio are usually carried around by mischievous elements just to score some kinda cheap points. Please, I want the general public to research into the problem before reaching any conclusion or blaming anyone. I believe the general public have a crucial role to play in determining their fate especially when it comes to their health care. We cannot continue to blame doctors in the health sector without knowing and understanding why the doctors reach certain diagnoses as relates to the health sector in this country. What cannot be applied in other sectors of the community should not be forced on the health sector just because some people need to be pacified. We should as a society that clamor for rule of law be seeing to do what is right and not just what others want. KNOW AND HAVE YOUR EVIDENCE(S) BEFORE YOU CONDEMN THE DOCTORS PLEASE.
