ASK FOR A SIGN - THE MYSTERY BEHIND FAITH Extract Teaching by Professor Lesego Daniel Ask for a sign. This must teach us how to pray. Sometimes when I pray, I ask God for what is impossible. I am doing a business deal with God. This is how business works, if an item is R50 (South African Rands), start the negation price at R200, so that when they negotiate it down, they will agree at R150. And you make a killing. So in the same way, I pray to God for what is impossible and He says, “That will shock the world too much but I will give you something that is slightly less”. And this will still be way above the ordinary. Make a business deal with God. Pray for what it impossible. When the angel said to Gideon, “Mighty man of valour, God is with you”. Gideon answered, “If you are with me, give me a sign”. There is no way that God is with you without a sign. Even at your workplaces, ask God for a sign. What can be sign? Let the money that you earn do more than those on the same salary. Let God be in your salary. Let your salary be a sign that God is with you. When you pray, ask for a sign. This is faith revealed graphically. Christ was graphically revealed. Let us move away from understanding faith according to its definition as a word. Let us teach about faith. A sign is to prove that God is with you. How about your prayer becoming like Psalm 139, “If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there”. People will be shocked at how you can make your bed in Sheol, but you will feel nothing. It will not even give you pride, because where you are, God still needs to keep you. A prayer of faith will cause God to do that He was not prepared to do. It was Gideon who asked God for a sign and he specified how the sign should unfold. Gideon, by his mouth, caused God to perform the sign. Let this teach on how to pray. This is faith revealed graphically. Many remain religious. Let this teach us. Let us understand God in a better way. The prophet Isaiah said to Ahaz, “Ask for a sign”. But Ahaz refused, saying he will not tempt God. There are people who are religious, who use scriptures like Satan. Do not quote God as if He does not know His Word. How can you remind God of what He knows? In Matthew 8, the centurion came to Jesus and asked Jesus to heal his servant who lay home paralyzed in pain. Jesus said to the centurion, “I will come and restore him”. But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy or fit to have you come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured”. The bible says, Jesus was marvelled and said, “I have never seen such faith, even in Israel”. Let us spend our lives surprising the Father. He is with us everywhere. Let us teach about faith, let us reveal faith graphically. We talk about faith but we do not talk about what is behind faith. Abraham was the father of faith. Abraham reasoned that God can raise the dead. It’s a mystery behind faith. It is a sign that God is with you even in the place of the dead. I said it deliberately when I said, many Christians are religious. Because many want to go into prayer and tell God what He already knows. Would you not be annoyed, if someone told you about what you already know about yourself? Ask according to the power of the Word. People used to teach in the past, you must remind God about what he promised. Did God forget? Let us get the mystery behind faith. Jesus just said, “Father, I thank you”. The bible says, ” If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11). How much more when a sign is with you? When you speak in tongues, you speak to God directly. You are speaking to God in one language. You are who God said you are. You are in His image. So when you remind him of His Word, it means the Word is not you. “Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also?” Let us break away from a faithless generation. You are a royal priesthood. Let us talk about the mystery behind faith, the sign. Do you understand why Paul said, “I thank God that I speak in tongues more than you”, (1 Corinthians 14:18). Jesus did not act religiously like Ahaz. You must direct the weapon to the right one, to the devil. Do not direct the weapon to God. It is when a thing is not done correctly, that you say, “It is written”. But you direct your weapon to the one who does what is right. God gives you a weapon but you direct it at him. Is it not supposed to be like this: “If you want the devil to flee use the word of God”? But you want to say to God, “it is written”. Are you trying to make God flee? Because of religion, many are far from God. For God to be with you, let there be a sign. God is omnipotent. He is everywhere. He wants you to be everywhere with Him, whether in Sheol or in heaven. Let us do away with religion. Ask for sign. TO GOD BE THE GLORY. #LesegoDaniel
