ASP/Samsung Galaxy World Championship Tour Rankings - World Title Race Scenarios Going Into Portugal There are 7 surfers in contention to the World Title going into the Moche/Rip Curl Pro Portugal event – Gabriel Medina, Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, John John Florence, Taj Burrow and Michel Bourez. Chances are very slim for both Taj Burrow and Michel Bourez as they will have to win both remaining WCT events and hope that Gabriel Medina don’t pass 13th place in either event. Between Gabriel, Kelly, Mick, Joel and John John this are the Scenarios: - If Gabriel finishes 25th/13th in Portugal Joel and JJ will need a 2nd, Mick a 5th, Kelly a 25th; (to send the title race to Pipeline) - Gabriel 9th Joel & JJ will need a 1st, Mick a 2nd, Kelly a 3rd; - Gabriel 5th Joel and JJ will be out of the race, Mick & Kelly will need a 1st; - Gabriel 3rd Mick and Kelly will need a 1st; - Gabriel 2nd Mick will be out of the race, Kelly will need a 1st; - Gabriel 1st Gabriel will clinch the World Title in Portugal;
