ASPERGERS - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time - this is a book centred on a boy with this disorder (2003), may interest some of my friends and contacts who either have sons with this, or work with such kids. Luckily I dont have it (my sister has the FULL dose - she is badly autistic) - but whenever I hear it discussed (as on last nights The Book Club) I know I do have (in small doses) some of the main characteristics - symptoms include you can easily get over-whelmed if there are too many people and too much going on (like my sister) - so you need times of quiet - hence I can revert to being quite a recluse - which surprises some people who dont know me too well so after meeting me do not think I am at all shy etc ... but I have times I need to be alone - move over Greta Garbo!! Hmmm ... great name that - maybe I can twist it and apply it to myself (when Im bad) - so be Greater Garbage? :-) abc.net.au/tv/firsttuesday/s4081304.htm SUMMARY - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is a murder mystery novel like no other. The detective, and narrator, is Christopher Boone. Christopher is fifteen. He knows a very great deal about maths and very little about human beings. He loves lists, patterns and the truth. He hates the colours yellow and brown and being touched. He has never gone further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds a neighbours dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down. The discussion of the book was very favourable, and made me want to read it. Check it on-line.
