ASUU STRIKE: Jonathan, Govt. officials not affected; reason why the strike may not end soon October 21, 2013 | Filed under: Education | Posted by: NewsForum 247 I wonder why people think this strike will end. Of course it will not end as soon as imagined. Since the beginning of the strike four months ago, President Goodluck Jonathan’s children were not affected. Of course we know our leaders’ children are not one of the victims of the strike. Ministers, governors, other government functionaries children study oversea. They were never affected by the strike. had they been affected, I bet you, President Jonathan would not watch his daughter or sons sit back at home for months without finding a solution. Jonathan’s recent appeal to ASUU to end the strike is a mockery of Nigerian students and Nigeria. Everybody knows that if President Jonathan wishes the strike end today, he knows what to do. Most people are blaming the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU; where lies ASUU’S fault in this? Our lawmakers who are suppose to fight for the revamping of our education are silent, not because they are unaware that the sector is critically ill, but because the illness of the sector does not affect them. Their children are not part of Nigerian students. They prefer spending million in Buckingham University, Oxford University, University of London etc, to seeing our own varsities be upgraded to that of the abroad. Yet you and I are here blaming ASUU who are now becoming peoples voice to fight for us. Peoples blaming ASUU ingrates. Most Nigerians are coward. This intimidation by our leaders is more than enough to storm Aso-Rock and force Jonathan and others out of office. The recent Tunisian revolution started with just one man who felt cheated. And today Tunisia is a better country. Until we are ready to fight for ourselves, our leaders will continue to dance and party to our detriment. Sometime ago, a friend suggested that a law be enacted that will ensure our leaders’ children and family are barred to study abroad, receive medical treatment abroad, with this, he suggest it could prompt them to reposition these sector. But who is to make these laws, is it these ‘Ghana Mu Go’ lawmakers? Only God can save Nigeria. STAND UP NIGERIANS, LET FIGHT DIRTY TO PUT AN END TO THIS WICKED INTIMIDATION BY OUR LEADERS.
