ASUU strike: Don urges FG to meet demand Written by lawal olawale-Sunday, 01 September 2013 01:14font size Print Email Rate this item (0 votes) раскрутка сайтов Worried by the prolonged strike of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), the Chairman, Advisory Group, Centre For Good Governance in Africa, Prof. Lasisi Olatunde, has called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency meet the demand of university teachers. The group in a statement signed by Adefemi Johnson, who is the programme co-cordinator of the Centre, informed that Prof. Olatunde made the call at the end of a one-day annual retreat of the centre, held at the Kogi State University, Anyigba. Prof Olatunde said the call became imperative in order to save the educational sector from total collapse, stressing that the N400 billion being demanded by ASUU wasnot too much to address infrastructural deficit in the Nation’s Ivory Towers. He, urged the Federal Government to implement the agreement reached with ASUU, saying that since they had reach such agreement, it was morally right to honour it. The university don commended Senator Wilson Ake on his conferment with the 2013 African Distinguished Person of the year award by the Centre.
