AT THE GLAD: Sun 11th Jan: Lords of Thyme/ Elly OKeeffe/ Kirsty Merryn Sharing a love of esoteric folk, psych and progressive music, The Lords of Thyme were formed after Joe Woolley, Tali Trow and Pat Kenneally, past members UK prog-folk act Circulus, decided to record together. Describing themselves as psych-folk, four piece Lords of thyme name Pentangle, Davy Graham and Neu! as artists that inform their sound. Currently recording their debut album with John Wood (Nick Drake/ Pentangle), theyre leading act in the exciting newly emerging UK folk underground. Their sound features fine harmony and dual guitars, with hints of Americana, psychedelia and traditional Englih folk in their musical melting pot. Lords of Thyme onstage at 9.15 pm Elly OKeeffes stunning vocal abilities have earned her favourable comparisons with such giants as Janis Joplin and Eva Cassidy. Already a majoir success in her native Ireland, she counts the legendary Paul Brady as a mentor and fan, having shared the stage with him on numerous occasions. Shes currently in London recording her second album withg producer Joe Hurst (Beth Gibbons/ Ian Brown), and brings her deeply soulful roots style to The Glad for the first time.
