AT THE GLAD: Sun 18 Jan: Minmal Klezmer/ Quest Duo With their their roots in classical music and hearts in jazz and East European folk music, Minimal Klezmer create a uniquely original sound combining both the pious and festive natures of traditional Jewish melodies. Stunningly virtuosic and hugely entertaining performers, their original arrangements are played by mainly portable and acoustic instruments reminiscent of small klezmer groups captured in recordings from the early 20th century. Writing through playing, improvising, and finding a shared language without notation, the duo merge their varied musical experiences to create compositions that are vibrant and experimental while at the same time melodic and filmic in quality.
