ATHENS GEORGIA -- -PLEASE SHARE! I am a volunteer (almost 8 years) at Athens Clarke County Animal Control in Athens,GA. I attached photos of Rosa #40561 who is very pregnant and most likely will birth within the next 24 hours. She ran out of safe time today at 4:00 p.m. but the staff moved her into the warmest kennel in the shelter so if she births tonight, she and her pups will be warm. Although the staff will do everything they can to make this little family to be comfortable, the shelter environment is not healthy or safe. Rosa is sweet, gentle and happy all the time. Up until yesterday, she walked with visitors and volunteers greeting everyone and all the dogs with a smile and wagging tail. Rosa loves people of all sizes and ages, other dogs and even the birds who fly into her run to snack on dog food! Please consider taking on this sweet and homeless sweetie. You can call animal control at 706 613-3540. The shelter is open from 10 to 4 but officers will answer the phone as early as 8 a.m. and you can make arrangements to pull her outside posted hours. I am part of a group of dedicated volunteers who are ready to assist by transporting a dog to the local vet for rescues and deliver a dog to rescues either all the way or half way depending on our schedules.
