FROM A REG.PHARMACIST AT RETAIL COUNTER OBSERVATION- A couple brought prescription of a physician who advised both diabetics to discontinue current plain pioglitazone and prescribed substitute- Linagliptin and sitagliptin respetively. Their antidiabetic Prescription as under:- MR HUSBAND PATIENT- Glucobay , duotrol SR i e glibenclamide 5 plus metformin sr 500 and linagliptin. MRs WIFE PATIENT- Glucobay M 50 I e acarbose and metformin sr 500.AND Sitagliptin. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ATTENTION:-AFTER EFFECT OF PIOGLITAZONE BAN: DATE-29.06.13 UPDATE NO.1.FROM A REG.PHARMACIST AT RETAIL COUNTER OBSERVATION- We pharmacists are advised to return pioglitazone and combinations stock to distributors. At our retail counter we found patients are returning stock. Their physians have advised them to stop these products and start taking:- One patient metformin sr 500 mg +glimperide 1mg at breakfast and repeat same at dinner.Another patient is advised to take metformin sr 500 mg +glimperide 1mg at breakfast and metformin SR 500mg at dinner.
