ATTENTION ALL DEER HUNTERS!!! What does your dream buck have in common with the Virnig Large Capacity Grapple (LCG)? Before reading ahead, take some time to remind yourself what your dream buck looks like. Anybody who has climbed into a deer stand has imagined the ultimate buck. It’s the monster responsible for sleepless nights before the opening day of season. This buck is what motivates us to wake up early on Saturday morning and fight frigid temperatures and fatigue for a chance at the deer of a lifetime. Anyway, here are six similarities your dream buck has with the Virnig Large Capacity Grapple: 1. Long Tines Short tines are not appealing to hunters searching for the monster. A chance at a buck that has long and even symmetrical tines would be amazing. The LCG has long and symmetrical tines, 46” to be exact. 2. Strong/Thick Tines A monster buck will have extremely thick tines wider than its ears. A buck with long, strong and thick tines can dominate any bucks that get in its way. The LCG has long, ½” thick Grade 80 tines that can handle the largest jobs and clear any debris that gets in its way. 3. Number of Tines Monster bucks generally have 10 or more tines. The LCG has 10 or more tines. 4. Big Body Yes, big antlers are important but you want your buck to have a large body so the antlers don’t look out of proportion. A mature buck can weigh over 250 lbs. The LCG84 has a big body that is over 85” wide, 62” tall and weighs 1,650 lbs. The sheer size of the attachment is what really sets it apart from the rest of the Virnig Grapple family. 5. Scraping Ability A buck will use its front hooves to expose bare earth in areas beneath low hanging tree branches in order to “cold call” receptive does. A buck’s scraping ability improves with age and experience. Also, bucks will scrape wider trees to release aggression. The intelligent design of the LCG allows it to scrape with loader arms against boom stops in order to remove large amounts of debris. It scrapes with the best of them. 6. Dominance and Aggression During rutting season bucks can become highly aggressive and unpredictable, due to elevated testosterone levels. They will often fight with each other to show dominance. The LCG releases its aggression by taking on piles of logs, scrap, rocks, and other tough jobs. Like a buck, it is best to avoid the LCG during the season. Stay out of its way unless you want to get dominated. Can you think of any other similarities? Feel free to COMMENT below. Good luck this hunting season. Get the BIG ONE!
