ATTENTION ALL MEDICAL STAFFING: If you at any point in your life must remove a drainage tube (of any sort) from a perfectly happy patient your best bet is to insist that the patient be partially sedated. Between the surgery, having my vitals taken every 10 mins, then every hour, the pain from moving, sitting up, and the pain from swallowing. The worst thing about the entire experience was the drainage tube removal, I officially have nightmares about that moment in my life and would like to never relive them. Please request a little conscious sedation, oh and if the first place you attempt to put an IV is the forearm you good sir are an idiot. I have wonderful veins and no one anywhere else has had to result to my freaking forearm! I personally believe that my hand, AC, or even my freaking foot would have felt better... when a nurse goes to push saline and it makes the patient cry you should choose another site! lol Love YA!
