ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Announcing a new breakthrough in the science of waking small children for school! As you know, I have been mining the canon of hard rock anthems for my kids’ 6:20 a.m. “alarm clock,” whith genrelly good, though sometimes lackluster, results. Today I switched it up with this incomparable example of Mongolian overtone throat singing: https://youtube/watch?v=HwANedEkqaY The singing begins at 1:15, whenupon the progyny did not “get out of bed” so much as “evacuate the bedchamber,” with great haste and alarm, making a very satisfying show of scowls and beligerant gesticulations directed at me. Incidentally, for any electronicaphiles out there, this melody (though a very different artist/recording), Alsyn Gazryn Zereglee, or “Mirage of a Distant Land,” was the main sample used in the second track, “Eyes of Truth,” on Enigma’s second album, Cross of Changes. For those interested, the lyrics mean: A distant mirage like a horse, or like livestock will be caught again. My sweet and playful child approaching - what thanks! A distant mirage like a sheep, or like livestock will be caught again. My dear and little child will pass the night and wish to leave. Daniel and Sofia fail to appreciate the profound appropriateness of the piece for the occasion.
