So far town officials are ignoring the voices of residents! Despite the majority of residents and business owners in attendance, voicing their opposition to the crematorium at every past meeting, the Planning & Zoning Commission (P&Z) keeps approving this through! WE MUST STOP THIS CREMATORIUM FROM COMING TO BETHEL!!!!! (read the petition below for all the reasons why and see other residents comments too) NOTE: Because hardly anyone knew about the Special Town Meeting that occurred on Dec. 29, the Monday in between Christmas and New Years weeks, the Economic Development Commission (EDC) was stripped of all power and all rules for the park expire on Jan 15, 2015, in a vote by 28 individuals, that seemed like a lynching! This (EDC) is our commission that tries to draw business to Bethel, and who decides what is appropriate for the park, and they did not think the crematorium was in the best interest of Bethel. (They were stewards of Clark Business Park for 30 years successfully, overseeing the park and making rules to make sure it operated successfully). This became a power-struggle between the P&Z (who is approving the crematorium) and the EDC (opposed to crematorium) and suddenly the EDC is stripped of power in a meeting no one knew about? WHY is our P&Z pushing this crematorium through against wished of residents and business owners??????? Something is very wrong here.
