ATTENTION CAMSHAFT GURUS Im looking for a little advice. Ive got a pre vanos m62b44 sitting in the garden waiting to be fitted once I get my arse in gear. Been buying and looking into go faster bits as the wages have been coming in and the latest research has been regrinding the camshafts. As Im sure a lot of you know the aftermarket camshafts are crazy expensive for these engines therefore not a cost effective option although I found a company in england that will do all 4 for £400 to any spec. I really know very little about it but have read that regrinding can remove the hardened surface and cause excessive wear or even failures. I asked the gentleman at the company about this and he said that since they are made from chilled iron that they would be ok. Could anybody confirm please? Also was looking at vac and catcams to see the available range but not really sure how they will behave. Im looking for a good bit more power up top but dont want to sacrifice too much down below. Shell be getting headers, polishing and mapping so should be able to maintain quite a bit of the bottom end anyway but any opinions would be appreciated... heres some links to the catcams and vac websites: store.vacmotorsports/vac---m60-m62-drop-in-performance-camshaft-sets-p1869.aspx catcams.co.uk/acatalog/BMW_E38_735i_il_740i_il__840ci_Coupe_32v_V8_M62_Engines.html
