ATTENTION Community CRAFTERS: We received this request from IMCOM: Handmade Ornaments SUSPENSE: NLT Monday, November 10, 2014 - Ornaments must be delivered to: Mary Markos - 513 Westminster Lane, Stafford, VA 22556 BACKGROUND: Each year, Vice-President Joe Bidens home receives a holiday transformation according to an annual holiday theme. This years theme will highlight the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard with a tree decorated for each branch. REQUEST: Reach out to Army military families to make 30-40 hand crafted ornaments for the Army tree. SPECIFIC ORNAMENT DETAILS: WHO: Military spouses, children and members themselves are invited to make ornaments; depict Army Families and people, NOT, military units. High School aged-kids or even talented middle school-aged kids are the target age for children who would make ornaments for this project. ORNAMENT LOOK: Each ornament should be a personal expression of an individual familys military journey with the Army, i.e. adorn with artwork, symbols, photos or words that are meaningful to the family. ORNAMENT MATERIALS: Relatively unrestricted and creative imagination is encouraged, i.e. paper, fabric, glitter, styrofoam and all usual crafting materials. ORNAMENT SIZE: 4 to 5 inches maximum diameter. ORNAMENT COLOR: Predominantly featured so the tree as a whole takes on the appearance of the Army branding. Would like for those that submit an ornament to take a picture and send to Mr Foy Dix ([email protected]) who will send the picture to IMCOM HQ. They would like to have on file the submissions from the different Garrisons. Point of clarification: Families who participate are to mail the ornament direct to Mary Markos - 513 Westminster Lane, Stafford, VA 22556.
