ATTENTION IL LAWMAKERS - Maybe you should watch this video and STOP underfunding public education!! The last 4 years you havent even funded education at the rate at which you said youd fund education. You do realize IL ranks 50th in the US in education funding, right? Get your priorities straight!! As public education funding goes so does the State. You wonder why people leave IL? High state and property taxes and low education funding!! Instead, IL lawmakers would rather further break education in IL and shift public education money which will have a more devastating impact on education and create more winners and losers creating class warfare. Maybe you should try and look at high performing, fiscally responsible, low operating cost per pupil school districts and not cut their funding! Indian Prairie School District 204 operates under the State average cost per pupil, our taxes are capped and we are one of the biggest financial losers under this proposed SB16. IPSD 204 is the 3rd largest school district in IL and we have to keep cutting ($40M in 5 years) just to balance our budget because of State education funding, but we are still doing it. Thank you supporters of proposed SB16 for potentially punishing a school district and 29,000 kids for doing things the right way, the way YOU wanted us to do it! I really hope you figure out a way that is equitable for all students and all school districts in IL instead of the current SB16!!
