According to many concerned parents and even some teens who have contacted The Opp News, WAAO and other media sources,you may want to check your childs smartphone to see if they are using the app Yik Yak. At the Bobcat Booster meeting this week, head coach Brent Hill also made a plea for parents to check and see if your students are using this app. Parents are complaining about the content being shared on the app platform as alarming, upsetting, and cyber-bullying. Allegations include students quitting school, trying to cause harm to themselves, jeopardizing potential employment and college admission and/or scholarships. Parents say those using the app allegedly post comments under alias identities, some of which are very offensive and reckless, and those in a certain radius geographically who also use the smartphone app can receive the content without actual ownership of the content being revealed.
