****ATTENTION SOUTHERN PLAINS**** As our friends in the western Northeast are trying to dig themselves out of 50-nearly 100 of snow this week, mets and storm chasers will begin turning their attention towards our next national weather event coming..... The next system will not be a snow-maker news events....instead we may be seeing minor to moderate severe weather developing through much of Texas, and possibly slightly eastwards. The flanking SW end of the powerful cold front/air mass that has recently invaded most of central and eastern USA will begin deteriorating next as the return of warmer normal air starts pushing in. That cold front boundary will turn into a semi-stationary frontal boundary and be the next focal point for developing severe weather parameters. Southern Ark/Okl/Tex will be the beginning areas for precip to develop ahead of the next piece of energy coming from the Pacific. Friday shows minor sever possible through west central Texas possibly developing. By Saturday, the system develops into a stronger Low, pulling moisture from the Gulf and destabilizing the regional atmosphere in time for potential dry line and cold front interactions. The NWS SPC has had a notice many days ahead now for this event and at this point shows an ENHANCED RISK for the general Houston, Texas (and western Gulf regions) area before it pushes through the region overnight into Louisiana/Ark etc. After this region deals with this system, the center of Low pressure should continue to strengthen and deepen as isometric pressure drops and heads NE into the western Great Lakes region. Once there, this could have a very noble Low pressure and intense winds...practically a Landicane...as Ive seen data dropping the pressure down to the 975s or so. Lets watch to see what happens in this event as many of us are eager to see and capture some atmospheric structural observations and lightning overnight...~ JP ~
