ATTENTION: SVMP will be closed tomorrow for an emergency shelter rescue. Due to some very irresponsible owners not picking up thier dogs at the Cal city shelter four dogs had to be euthanized last night. All of their dogs were injured and abandoned in a backyard and have been in the shelter for days. We will be heading up there early tomorrow morning to rescue George a mastiff with severe kennel cough and whoever else we can fit in our van to hopefully prevent having anymore euthanized. Cal city is a very small shelter and unfortunately has a high euthanasia record do too just not having space. The networkers and shelter workers are heart broken as the four that were euthanized were there for quite some time and they became very attached to. They were euthanized because they just had no space and because of the irresponsible owner by law their dogs had to be kept there and will stay there until at least Wednesday. The calcd shelter is a very small shelter located in one of the largest cities in California. The reclaim rate by owners is unbelievably small. Please check out their page.
