ATTENTION TEACHERS: The Governor is going to call for an Up or Down Vote for ...a 2% raise again TOMORROW!!! SO Pick up the Phone!!!...Teachers stand up for your Teachers Association and continue to be a member of the ONLY organization that has EVER supported you. Dont be fooled by partisan politics. Your Teachers Association is the only organization that has ever fought for Y O U.... for a raise, increased benefits (including retirement), materials in your classroom, technology, textbooks, supplies, and lower class size. Those of you that have known me as an educator for 31 years...you know that I have always tried to provide teachers with accurate information...How long have known some politicians.... for 4 years?....Politicians have taken and continue to take money from the Education Trust Fund...The last huge attack was the Accountability Act ...It should have been named The ETF Borrowing Act because they took $40 million from your classroom! P E R I O D! It is wrong! In 1981 teachers were paid $14,000 a year and had 36 in their class size; a staff meeting lasted for 2 1/2 hours (without notification) and if the P.E. teacher didnt come in....there was no break. (for elementary teachers) ... Without a Teachers Association fighting for class size, adequate pay, services for disabilities and disadvantaged children you will always be at the mercy of a politician. Call your representative and senator and let them know what you think about not receiving a raise and thank your teachers association for fighting for you! (message me if you dont know who to call)
