ATTENTION! . . . THE RETURNED is a French TV series which defies genre. If you mash up Stanley Kubrick, David Fincher, and David Lynch into one creative vision, it would be this amazingly original variation on the beautiful creepiness of mysterious resurrection. I predict 12 minutes of viewing will be all it takes to convince you. I was swept along as though gripped in a whirlpool of riveting suspense. The hypnotic mastery of beautiful lighting, photography, acting, plotting and music knocked me out! The composer is a one-name entity known as MOGWAI. Mogwai are a Scottish post-rock band, formed in 1995 in Glasgow. I know that sounds like it could be poisonous to serious drama. I assure the very opposite is in effect. You owe it to your sense of aesthetics to give this one a try. Please dont investigate by reading anything about the plot ahead of time or youll spoil about 4 surprises! This is all Ill tell you: After 4 years past a tragic accident which took the lives of local children, they have returned. Thats all ya get! NETFLIX---watch it and report back your impressions!
