ATTN LOCALS - PERSONAL SAFETY SEMINAR (Message from Councillor Shayne Sutton): Hi Everyone, One of the great things about our local community is its safe and friendly atmosphere. While Brisbane is considered a safe place to live, some women still have a fear of crime and violence. This fear can impose restrictions on womens lifestyle choices and their use of public space, transport and other facilities. Protecting our own personal safety is extremely important. Thats why I would like to invite you to a free Personal Safety Seminar. These seminars will be run by Suzanne Daleys Violence Minimisation Alliance and are suitable for all women and girls aged 14 years and over. Suzanne Daleys Violence Minimisation Alliance is the only full time centre in Australia specifically devoted to womens empowerment and self-defence and is the largest Womens Self Defence organisation in the world. The seminars are designed to increase confidence and ease concerns you may have about crime affecting you. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss any personal safety issues or questions at the seminars. If you havent already attended one of my Womens Personal Safety Seminars, I would encourage you to come along to one of these highly informative sessions.
