AUDITION NOTICE: The Last Sunday in June by Jonathan Tolins Closet Door Theatre Company, Sacramento’s premier LGBT community theatre, proudly announces AUDITIONS for their upcoming production of Last Sunday in June by Jonathan Tolins (Twilight of the Golds). The production is being directed by Bill Zarriello. Summary: It is the last Sunday in June, the day of the annual Gay Pride Parade through New York’s Greenwich Village. Tom and Michael, his partner of seven years, intend to spend the day planning their impending move from the Big Apple to the upstate town of Nyack, but their plans for shopping at Pottery Barn are rerouted as one friend after another drops by to view the parade through the window of their apartment. As secrets are revealed and first impressions are reversed, the afternoon turns into a series of conversations about relationships, self-acceptance and the meaning of what it is to be gay, eventually calling all relationships into question, including their own. Production Dates: The production will perform at the Geery Theatre, May 30 – June 21, 2014. Audition Dates: Sunday, April 6th and Monday, April 7th Starting at 7:00 pm. Plan to attend both nights, if possible. Audition Location: The Kennedy Gallery 1931 L Street (20th & L), Sacramento, CA 95811 What to Prepare: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, provided at the auditions. Please bring resume and head shot if you have one, and be prepared to discuss any conflicts with the rehearsal timeframe, if you have any. All roles are open and available (breakdown below). Cast: (7 men, 1 woman) Michael – teacher, Tom’s partner of 7 years, more interested in Pottery Barn than the Parade, 30’s Tom – lawyer, Michael’s partner of 7 years, has his doubts about moving, 30’s Joe – actor, a bit naïve, eager, late 20’s Brad – HIV+, struggling to remain young and vibrant, fearless, speaks his mind, acerbic, 30’s Charles – aging, opera queen, 50’s James – Michael’s ex, author, angry, disenchanted with the gay lifestyle, 30’s Scott – buff, will be shirtless, smarter than perceived, 30’s Susan – matter of fact, can state her opinions without offending, 30’s
