AUDITIONS OPEN TO ALL DANCERS FOR THE DANJ COMP TEAM - Saturday, August 23rd in Lake Hopatcong The 2014-15 DANJ Competition Team Auditions are being held today, Saturday, August 23rd in our Lake Hopatcong studio. WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE AUDITIONS? Any dancer interested in joining the DANJ 2014-15 competition team should attend. If you are unsure about joining, you should attend as there is no obligation to join the team and there is no cost to audition. The auditions will also be used to help make placement decisions for the 2014-15 classes and competition routines. Feel free to bring a friend who may be interested. The auditions are about helping us make sure that you are placed with other dancers best suited to your current skill level. By doing this, your classes and competition dance experiences will be more fulfilling and fun. The auditions themselves should be taken seriously; on the other hand, we want everyone to have a good time and support each other. While the auditions are scheduled by age group, the composition of classes and groups during the school year will be determined based on skill level. AUDITION REQUIREMENTS You must audition in your age group (based on your age as of September 1, 2014) as listed below under Audition Schedule for Saturday. You are required to audition in Ballet and Technical Elements (if you are considering competing in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, musical theater or acro. You are required to audition in Tap if you are considering competing in Tap. You are required to audition in Acro if you are considering competing in Acro. AUDITION SCHEDULE FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 23rd New Mini Team Orientation: - 9:00 - 10:30 Ballet, Acro, Jazz & Tap - 9:30 - 10:30 Mini Team Parent Meeting Ages: 7 to 9: - 11:00 - 11:30am Ballet - 11:30 - 12:15pm Jazz & Lyrical - 12:15 - 12:45pm Tap - 12:45 - 1:15pm Acro Ages: 10 to 12: - 1:00 - 1:45am Ballet - 1:45 - 3:00pm Technical Elements: Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary & Musical Theater - 3:00 - 3:45pm Tap - 3:45 - 4:15pm Acro Ages: 13 & Over: - 4:45 - 5:45pm Ballet - 5:45 - 7:00pm Technical Elements: Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary & Musical Theater - 7:00 - 7:45pm Tap - 7:45 - 8:15pm Acro WHAT TO WEAR TO THE AUDITIONS Girls: Hair should be in a bun or neatly pulled back. Wear all black (for ballet: black leotard and pink or tan tights) and something that will allow the faculty to see your lines such as a leotard and booty shorts (no sweat pants, t-shirts, etc.). Boys: black stretch pants or shorts, plain black or white shirt. Footwear: ballet, tap, and jazz shoes (turners/pirouetters, foot paws, etc. are OK) LOCATION OF THE AUDITIONS Auditions are being held in the DANJ studio located at 770 Route 15 South in Lake Hopatcong. Directions are available on the DANJ website danj.us. WHAT COMES NEXT? During the week following the auditions, we will have information for each dancer regarding recommended classes for the school year as well as a preliminary list of groups each dancer will be invited to participate in.
